NRHM employees demand better wages, hold protest

JALANDHAR: Members of the NRHM Employees Union today held a protest march wherein they indulged in sloganeering and demonstrations against the state government at the local Maqsoodan Chowk here today.

Members of the NRHM Employees Union today held a protest march wherein they indulged in sloganeering and demonstrations against the state government at the local Maqsoodan Chowk here today. The union protested in support of better pay scales for the second consecutive day today. The union also announced that its members had also declared that they would gherao the home of CPS KD Bhandari but the programme was cancelled since the CPS wasn’t home.

The union suspended medical services and said they would continue the same until their demands are met.

The employees said the government wasn’t paying them according to their genuine rights.

The union also demanded that the state government should increase their pay scales on the lines of the Central Government.

Members said in the past despite protests held by them the state government had not paid heed to their demands on this front. Members also rued the fact that people were being hit due to the strike but they said unless the government relented, they will not stop protests this time. Carrying slogans against the government, union activists raised slogans against the government and police arrangements were also made to avoid untoward incidents and female police was also deputed on the spot today.

The workers of the union had also held a protest at the Nakodar Chowk yesterday wherein traffic remained disrupted for a considerably long time causing inconvenience to commuters.

Members participating in the protest today included civil hospital employees Monika Rani, Rohit Thakur, Sarbjit Kaur, Rajwant Kaur,Jatinder Kaur, Pawna Kumar among others.
