The ongoing indefinite strike of the NRHM employees will continue, as the meeting of NRHM state body with the state health officials held in Chandigarh today failed to bear any fruit.
State health officials today called a meeting with leaders of the NRHM Employees Union Association urging them to call of the strike as it has hit the health services and put the patients in lurch .
The employees had resorted to strike, when they received a letter mentioning reduction in their salaries. The NCD staff including doctors and para medical staff that falls under the NRHM had also joined the strike. Reportedly, no one was present at the Community Health Centre and the Primary Health Centres of the Bathinda district.
A ten-member team of the NRHM State Union Association including Narendra Kumar Bathinda, Avtar Singh, Amarjit Singh, Ninder Kaur Muktsar, Navneet Kaur, Kuranjit Kaum Ludhiana, Dr Anil Vishisht, and Dr Balwinder met the health officials today.
“The officials of the Health Department hold a meeting with us today and try to convince us saying that orders of reduction in the salaries will be taken back, ” state NRHM convener Narendra Kumar said.
The protesters demanded that a financial emergency be imposed in the state.
The employees hold a protest near the gate of the Civil Hospital today. They beat empty drums as part of their protest.
