In a major drive, the enforcement staff of the Estate Office and the Municipal Corporation today removed hoardings and buntings from the facade of the showrooms in the Central Plaza in Sector 17.
In the day-long operation carried out with the help of heavy weight lifting cranes, the enforcement staff led by tehsildar, Amarinder Singh, cleared the facade of around 300 shops and 34 trucks full of the hoardings and banners were taken from the area.
Officials supervising the operations said the shopkeepers had been intimated through a public notice as the hoardings were in violation of the rules. The Adviser to the UT Administrator, Vijay Kumar Dev, during a visit to Sector 17 had pointed out about the hoardings.
Following the orders of the Adviser, the enforcement drive was carried out.
