The two-day ‘Art Tantra’, annual art and creativity festival of Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), Chandigarh, began with a bang at their Sector 34 centre on Saturday.

The pre-production students displayed their work with a ‘horror’ touch, creating an aura of Halloween with ghosts flying in the dark and legs hanging from the roof, and welcoming the visitors with a scary surprise. The production section worked on the Christmas theme adding snowman, minions and olive from the movie Despicable Me and covering the surroundings in snow. The post-production team built a fantasy land on the theme of the famous Hollywood movie ‘Avatar’ with the tree of wisdom in the centre and rocks as well as masks covering the area. The post-production section also added a Chroma scene where a visitor could see himself in a fairyland on the LCD.

Among other outstanding works on display was 3D modelling by Abhishek Bisht, a student of 3D specialisation course; paintings by Humraj, Priyanka and Ankur and vector design, and VFX by Ankit Madhyan, Akhil and Amanjot Singh. All the efforts of the students and their teachers were aimed at showcasing before the visitors the entire gamut of the rapidly developing animation and visual effects industry. — TNS
