Srinagar, October 18

The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) today demanded a waiver of entry fee to the Kartarpur corridor. Jagmohan Singh Raina, APSCC chairman, said the Pakistan Government should waive $20 entry fee to the corridor as the country would anyway get an economic boost once pilgrims start arriving.

“The entry fee of $20 should be waived. If they do not do so, they can charge a nominal amount. For entry to other gurdwaras in Pakistan, the pilgrims are usually charged Rs 300. The Kartarpur gurdwara will boost the economy of Pakistan anyway as Sikhs not just from India but from the entire world will visit there,” Raina said while talking to The Tribune.

He said Sikh pilgrims would not just visit Kartarpur but other gurdwaras of Pakistan as well.

“Lahore was once the headquarters of the period of Sikh rule and there are many gurdwaras in Pakistan. I think somebody in the Pakistan Government is trying to exploit sentiments,” Raina said.
