New Delhi, October 17
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today directed officials of the Directorate of Education (DoE) to improve supply of books on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to teachers and students of Delhi government-run schools and figure out ways to ensure maximum utilisation of computer labs by students with available full-time lab assistant for their guidance.
The directions came following an interaction of Sisodia, also the Education Minister in the Delhi government, with the newly-recruited trained graduate computer science teachers of the government schools.
The session was organised on the sidelines of a programme organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) at Delhi Secretariat.
Teachers told the minister ICT should be one of the core subjects with regular assessments at schools and periods of ICT per week need to be increased. There should be one lab-assistant to help better practical learning to students and books on the subject need to be made available to students.
