With banks approving barely five cases in the district under the coveted Mukhymantri Yuva Swabhlamban Yojana ever since it was launched in May, little appears to have been done by the district administration to propagate it among the youth.
While as many as 58 applications were received from across the district, only 30 were shortlisted to be forwarded to the banks and a dismal five were cleared for loans. The “lackadaisical” approach adopted by the authorities was clear from the fact that officials of the District Industries Centre had failed to hold any meeting with the Deputy Commissioner to propagate this scheme among the youth.
These facts came to the fore during a meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shrikant Baldi with officials of the district on Thursday evening. The meeting was organised to review the implementation of various government schemes. Baldi has directed the officials to pull up their socks and ensure the optimum results in the district.
He asked them to ensure the optimum coordination with all departments to achieve the targets of various schemes. He said 30 new schemes had been launched by the Chief Minister in his first budget and people should receive its benefits within the stipulated time.
He said the state government had ensured that all departments received its due budget in a timely manner and elaborate directions had been issued for their effective implementation. He made it clear that no laxity would be tolerated in their implementation and the progress of all schemes should be sent to the government on a regular basis. The results of yet another scheme, the Mukhyamantri Yuva Ajivika Yojana, launched on August 14 this year, had also shown abysmally poor results with barely eight cases have been approved in the district till now.
