Panchkula, August 11

Members of the district Mahila Congress today burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for making objectionable comments about Kashmiri women at Ashiana Flats in Sector 25 here.

Condemning the CM’s statement, Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sumitra Chauhan said Khattar was speaking the language of road romeos and should be ashamed of making such irresponsible statements.

Chauhan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was engaged in convincing the people of Kashmir that the whole country was with them, but an “unworthy” Chief Minister was inciting violence by speaking vulgar things. She said an FIR should be lodged against him as well as other leaders for making such statements. He should apologise for this. All-India Mahila Congress convener Ranjita Mehta said the tongue of the Chief Minister repeatedly slipped and he later apologised. Earlier, he had said that minor incidents such as rape continued to occur as women were wearing jeans. She said earlier Cabinet Minister OP Dhankar had also stated that they would bring daughters-in-law from Bihar.

Ambala MP supports CM

Panchkula: Even as Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has been facing flak for making objectionable comments on Kashmiri women, Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria today welcomed his statement. While talking to the media at a function organised by Maharaja Agarsain Charitable Trust at Sector 5 here, Kataria said the statement given by Khattar should be welcomed. He said whatever obstructions had been created by Article 370 had been removed by its abrogation and paved way for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He said abrogation of Article 370 was a great achievement for people of the country and the government. All-India Women Congress convener Ranjita Mehta said the statement of the CM and his ministers expose their minds about women. — TNS
